Takeover Tuesday (on a Monday): Jules

Twitter // Facebook // Blog // Bloglovin
I am Jules, I blog over at My Mom's a Whack Job.  I am a single mom to one eye rolling, smart ass, knows everything, my mom is an idiot, teenage girl and a sweet baby boy that takes all her abuse! I run a lot, I eat a lot, I cuss and I play hard. My life is far from perfect, my kids wear dirty clothes and I drink too much.  I am a hot mess that thrives on the living life my way! Stop by and have some fun with me.

1. How do you understand 'true happiness'?  I have been struggling with what Happiness is for a few years now. I think it is different for everyone. For me, it is a life full of love. Love of myself, love of others.

2. Do you ever blog in your PJ’s? Hardly ever. I usually blog during the day. Every once in a while if I have an idea or need to upload a bunch of pics, I will blog in bed.

3. If you could plan the perfect holiday, what would it be? Holidays are a very sore subject with me.  I hate them. I have a small family and I am expected to be at my parents all day. To me the perfect holiday would be waking up late, having a big breakfast, curling on the couch in our jammies and watching movies all day long.

4. What are 5 items you never leave home without? iPhone, Lip Gloss, Keys, Flip Flops, Sunglasses.

5. What is your most favorite electronic gadget? My iPhone. I am making a huge effort to leave it in my bag when I am around other people, but honestly, I don't know how I would survive without it.

Takeover Tuesday: Meet Jeane!

Hello there! You may have noticed that I've been sort of MIA lately. I've been busy with our On the Job Training and I feel like I'm not having enough sleep (though we're not really that busy, we don't even do plenty of travel agency stuff). I'll be updating you guys about my first week at the OJT on a different post.

Meanwhile, meet Jeane of Dauntless Tales! :) She's a fellow Pinoy blogger and we've been exchanging e-mails for quite some time now. Get to know more about her on her blog! :)

Hi everyone! Im Jeane! I’m from the Philippines and I blog at Dauntless. I'm on my last year in studying Nursing.  My blog is about personal experiences, music, books and many more! I hope that you will check out my blog. J Thanks! I would like to thank Mary for doing this Guest Post thingy! Thanks for making this possible. J

1.      How do you understand 'true happiness'?
For me, true happiness is not constant euphoria or ecstasy, as some would wish it to be. It’s a simple sense of contentment, impermanent, and therefore so valuable. There is nothing that you can buy, acquire, or achieve that will bring lasting happiness. These things may bring you moments of joy or happiness but it will not be sustained forever.

2.      What is your biggest pet peeve?
People that interrupt me when I’m telling a story and then they continue to tell me their story and then ask me in an uninterested tone to continue on with my story when they are finished talking. Definitely my biggest pet peeve.

3.      Do you ever blog in your PJ’s?
Of course I do! It feels so relaxing blogging in my PJ’s. And it feels so comfortable. :)

4.      What are 5 items you never leave home without?
1.      Hanky (Because I have sweaty palms)
2.      Cellphone
3.      Wallet
4.      Bottled Water
5.      Crackers/Biscuits

5.      What is your most favorite electronic gadget?
That would be my phone. Although it hangs most of the time. I think I should buy a new one, when I have enough money.

Thanks for reading! J

Five Among Friends 5.0

1. If you could switch blogs with another blogger, who would it be and why?
Exchanging blogs with another blogger would be exciting and I'd totally love to exchange blogs with Camie of Wild Spirit! Her blog is simple and just captivating in ways I don't know. I'd like to experience her adventures even just for once and also,  I'd want to learn more about blogging from her. That would totally make my day, or week even.
2. What is/are your favorite bloghop(s)?
My favorite bloghops would be Grab a friend Bloghop by Noor and though it's not a bloghop, I absolutely love the Blog Everyday in May Challenge by Jenni!
3. What is the best thing that blogging has taught you?
Through the years, blogging has been a part of my life. It taught me to embrace the way I am, and how to embrace other people. One of the most important things it has taught me is time management. Being a student and blogger is no easy task especially when school seems to take over most of your day. Through blogging, I have learned to schedule and prioritize (though most of the time I still don't follow my own rules) but I'm still learning. :)
4. If you could turn back time, what would you change about your life?
I wouldn't change anything about my life now. Whatever experiences I had in the past, whether good or bad, made me the person I am know. Though I may regret some things, I'm still contented and thankful of what I have now.
5. Recommend 5 wonderful movies worth watching. Why do you love these movies?
These movies are worth watching because these are the movies that either made me cry or very happy! If you haven't watched the following, go ahead and download some. I'm sure you'll watch it over and over again, too!
  1. Soul Surfer - a movie based on Professional Surfer, Bethany Hamilton's story. I can't deny having cried several times while watching it. I've seen it several times already and I still cry everytime I do. I admire her courage, how she's such a strong woman, how she handles the situation very well and how she doesn't easily give up. She truly deserves being where she is now. :)
  2. The Proposal - an American movie where the boss proposes to her assistant. One of my favorite movies! :) I don't know, I just love the Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds tandem! I love the plot and how it gives importance to the family and family ties.
  3. Daddy Long Legs - a Korean movie where an orphan girl is being helped by her Daddy Long Legs in sustaining her needs. It's sort of a heart-breaking story and has interesting twists in the plot. Totally recommended for those who want a nice love story. :)
  4. Secret - a Taiwanese movie where a girl discovers an old piano sheet and uses it to travel to the future where she meets the love of her life. I love it just because! :) It's hard to explain but I'm sure you'll know why when you watch it too. :D
  5. Hello Stranger - a Thai romantic comedy wherein two Thailanders become acquainted during their separate trips to Korea. I can't stop laughing at most of the scenes and at the same time, fall in love with these strangers. They're just so cute and there's a special chemistry between them. I would love it more if there was a second part.

Our four-day training is finally finished! Finally, we can stay away from our notebooks and researches for a while. Next week, we'll be going to Subic for free! Oh the perks of being a would-be tour guide! We'll be on a familarization tour and we'll be given tour guiding tasks while on the bus. It's like you're guiding your own tour - which means I must not stay away from my notebook for long. I must get back to it asap since I still need to feed myself with information regarding Luzon! I know it's a lot but I can do this! :)

It's almost midnight right now and I feel like it's still 8:00! What is happening to me? :/ Anyway, tomorrow is a Monday which means we'll be on duty till 5!

How was your weekend?

Five Among Friends 4.0

1. What is your favorite holiday and why?
That would totally be Christmas! I mean, who doesn't love the cold weather, the bright and colorful lights, the early morning masses, the abundance of people, and FOOD! It's a time for me and my family to catch up with each other. Sometimes, our relatives from Luzon come and visit and makes it a little bit of a reunion, too.
2. Do you have a special or favorite cartoon or cartoon character?
I don't really recall having a favorite cartoon character. Hahaha! I don't watch a lot of cartoons anymore. But perhaps Detective Conan?
3. What was or you think will be your reaction on the first day of school for your first born?
I guess I would be totally worried but still I would be proud of him/her because I know that he will totally make it on the first day. But that would be in the years to come. :)
4. What’s your preference: Swimming pool or beach and why?
It depends on my mood really. But I would mostly prefer the beach since it's a natural setting! I mean, who doesn't love the fresh ocean breeze and not to mention the sunset! Wow!
5. How do you schedule your blog post and do you use any type of system?
I always write and post my entries on the same day, and I still haven't tried scheduling them yet.   Perhaps when I don't have enough time to insert blogging on my schedule? I have a blog notebook where I draft all my posts. Inside it, I have a calendar where I indicate the title of the entry I need to post on that particular day. It works since sometimes I tend to forget, and a blog notebook is an easy way to blog anytime and anywhere!

Takeover Tuesday: Meet Noor!

It's currently thirty minutes past ten and I'm still awake eventhough I feel sleepy. We were on office duty since yesterday, which means were doing research on our assignments - and updating on our twitter and facebooks once in a while. Lol. Sometimes I think, 'Are we even on duty?' cause it doesn't seem like it. We've only been in office for 2 days but we've collected far too many brochures (of Tourist destinations) already!

We have new housemates who arrived yesterday! We talked earlier and believe it or not, he's a VIP! He's a veteran Filipino runner who climb Mt. Fuji in Japan! Wow! This is like living with a celebrity!

And speaking of celebrity, let me introduce the star of the blog for today, Noor

I've been a student of tech-o world so blogging makes me feel like home + all the awesome people I've met would never want me to take down blogging. I'm so happy to be writing here.

1. If you were given a chance to ask a celebrity 3 questions, who would that celebrity be and what would you ask?
John Cena for sure,, I'd ask him how he still looks so young, lol. Secondly, I'd ask how did he signatured his style with shorts; third one will be, when will he get marry again?
2. How do you understand 'true happiness'?
Family, if they're around. You will know the importance of even your tears.

3. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Bragging for sure. I hate when someone crosses a line I might catch.

4. Do you ever blog in your PJ’s?
Lol , most of the time. I rest with my notebook and blog for a while so the time is my PJ time.

5. What are 5 items you never leave home without?
A family gadget, mirror, lip gloss, water bottle, tissues.

The Training: First Three Days + Giveaway

Finally! Our much awaited On-the-Job-Training has officially started yesterday, Saturday. We were already here in Taytay in the province of Rizal a day before to set our things up. Commuting to and from my Aunt's place in Laguna takes more or less two hours so I, together with two of my friends decided to rent a boarding house for a month.

We were expecting a typical Filipino boarding house but it was more than that! It was a real house (with a flat screen tv!!!)! Yay! We were more than happy! :) With the peaceful surroundings and fresh, clean air, it sort of feels like home. Since were located in high lands, we can see the wonderful city lights from afar!

The first two days of the training was good. I met students who are mostly from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines or the PUP. During the first day, we were made to introduce ourselves, identify the qualities of an effective Tour Guide and share our expectations when were already on the field. I was a bit shy during the first day since I haven't spoken in front of people in a while and it took time for me to adjust. I was a bit disappointed of myself but I know I can do better! :) I just need to practice, practice, practice.

Today, we were able to meet a DOT Accredited Tourist Guide and two Professors from the University of the East namely Sir DJ, Sir Kiko and Sir Don who were very nice, accommodating and informative. We had fun during the discussion wherein they shared their experiences as Tour Guides.

TRIVIA! Did you know that Tourist Guide and Tour Guide are different? Yes they both guide tourists, only that a Tourist Guide holds a license.

I don't know if being a Tour Guide is the right job for me, but I know that this training will be of much help for me to determine the kind of job I really want in the future. I prefer office work though. I love doing brochures, sending letters and all those 'back of the house' jobs, but who knows right?

Anyway guys, this is what we've all been waiting for - Adriana's July giveaway! I'm so glad to be participating since this is my very first giveaway! I'm giving a premade blogger layout! Now isn't that cool? Not only that, you also get to win Blog Add-ons and FREE Ad Spaces! AWESOME!

Now what are you waiting for? Enter through the rafflecopter below! :)

Five Among Friends 3.0

1. Who is the person that made you do the dumbest thing? What was it?
I honestly don't remember. Lol. But I agree with Jay, I would rather it be crazy and funny things than dumb. When I was in high school, my classmates and I would do a lot of craziness inside and outside of our classrooms. I kind of miss our bonding and the old high school times, though.
2. What was the FIRST job you ever had?
I haven't had a job yet. I'm still on my way to being a graduate in my course. Perhaps about a year from now, I'll be able to tell you what it is.
3. When do you relax and how do you do it?
I guess that would be during the evening when everything else is done, or during my vacant periods. I either doze off (which is rarely done) or do something enjoying such as blogging or listening to music. That'll take my mind off stressful thoughts and surroundings. Sometimes, if I have time, I do follow what they say on the internet. You know, things like 'lie on your back for five minutes and imagine a field of flowers and chirping birds...'. And it does work!
4. Where was your most memorable date dance? Who was it with?
Sorry, I had to cross 'date' since I've never been into one. Haha. Anyway, my first prom dance was indeed the most memorable one. It was with my high school and  long-time crush and believe it or not, I don't remember having danced with any other guy after that. It was a short dance though (about 1 - 3 minutes. yup. bummer). But I still remember every moment of it except the song that was playing. Another bummer. I remember his hand on my hips and mine on his shoulders. We were looking at each other and everything was like in slow motion. Man, I'm starting to miss high school. So that was it. :)
5. Why do you blog?
I blog simply because I love doing it. I don't know why but a day seems incomplete without it. I can say that it's my escape from the real world and all the stress that comes with it. It's certainly one way to relax, have a little laugh along the way and interact with people across the world without walking an inch! :)

Takeover Tuesday: Meet Jei!

Jei and her favorite actress!

Hi! I am Jei Crochet from Cavite, Philippines A wife, Mommy to 2 boys, a girl and 2 doggies. I am the author of Cutey Patuty Crochet. I've been blogging for almost 4 months now. My love of crocheting inspired me to start to blog. I used to watch and read other crochet blogs, I said to my self  "Hey! I can make these things!" So I started to teach myself more about crocheting and share things I learned to my readers.

My blog name used to be Jeijam crochet, but changed it to Cutey Patuty when my children were watching cartoons and one character said cutey patuty. It sounds cute and catchy, so I started using Cutey Patuty Crochet. I picture my blog to have it's own domain name, earning money enough to support our needs, and will be featured on TV! (I wish!), and my blog helped newbie crocheters and bloggers to achieve their goals.

You know I love watching Be Careful With My Heart ( a local telenovela here in the Philippines) and I love the lead actress Jody Sta. Maria. Her portrayal of a nanny that is really eager to achieve her dreams for her family and people around her makes me think that it is possible for me to achieve my dreams. And Jodie really plays her role very good. When I would be given a chance to ask Jodie Sta. Maria 3 questions that will be:

1. What is your favorite bonding time with your son?
2. How do you deal with negative persons around you?
3. What is your advice to all single mothers out there?

If you ask me, I am happy with my life right now. With my kids beside me and my husband who is miles away from me, but still makes time to skype with us. We should know that true happiness is this harmonious fitting together of parts. Joy is the feeling we get when things fit together well. It is deep inside our soul! If we dig inside we can set it free so we can be joyful. Real happiness is a state of mind that exist regardless of your surroundings. It is both spiritual and mental thing.

My biggest pet peeves are:
1. When they keep asking me if I am pregnant.
2. When people tell me that my husband looks younger than me (he's 12 years older than me!).
3. Loud voices annoys me a lot!
4. I hate ants!

If I am given a time machine and could go back and live in different century, I would go back in the 20th century around the time of 1900's and maybe invent something useful like an electric bike so that Henry Ford will not invent gas powered cars. No more pollution!

You can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Bloglovin, G+. You can visit my blog at Cutey Patuty Crochet.

Clothing Haul

Rain was pouring heavily the night before and I was sleeping rather soundly, that I wasn't able to notice a huge wet area just beside my pillow! Turns out, rainwater seeped through the room's ceiling! So, we had to change the bed covers and re-arrange the bed to prevent it from getting wet again. Hahah.

You might think 'what does that have to do with clothes?' Lol. Lemme tell ya, if that didn't happen, we wouldn't have rearranged all the boxes of clothing and I wouldn't have all these nice pieces from my Aunt's wardrobe! She has tons of pants and shirts that she's not using anymore, and they're still as good as new! She wanted to give some of it to me, so how can I say no? One of the best Aunts ever!

I admit I'm not a jacket person but these totally looked nice on me! I never bother buying jackets like these since they're not only expensive, I rarely use them. I mean, in a country like this, who wears jackets? (Unless you're some crazy person who wears a jacket under the scorching heat of the sun.) Perhaps I could find a purpose for these 'new' ones! It's the rainy season, isn't it? :)

These doesn't belong to the free ones. I bought them at Surplus Shop for $5 mainly because of the design! Haha!

coral blouse from tiara - Php 350 @ SM Sta. Rosa
skinny jeans - thrifted
handbag (free) secosana
shoes from m. nicole by figlia - Php 1,077 @ Landmark Makati

So let me leave you with a nice casual get-up in coral and blue! I bought the blouse (actually my aunt bought it for me. She is so nice!) from SM Sta. Rosa last Saturday, and what great timing...they were having a clearance sale! It cost less than half the price! The shoes was also bought at 10% off (thanks again to my Aunt)! The jeans are from my aunt, and the small bag comes with the Secosana handbag bought at half the original price as well. :) What can I say, I love mall sales! Lol! ;)
